Code Tea Party
by Broken Chair Productions
Two adult siblings fall down the “rabbit hole” of the modern healthcare system. Mary Ann has given up her life to become a full-time caretaker for her brother as he progressively loses control of his body and looks for a way out. Darkly comedic with a surreal edge, the play highlights the absurdity of the bureaucratic circus standing between patients and care.
Faced with rising costs and overburdened healthcare workers, how far will Mary Ann go and what taboos will she break in order to “save” her loved one?
An original play written by Shannon Damery and inspired by personal experiences of medical debt and caregiving.
