Dear Mr Health Secretary,
Given that you’ve ignored my letters (sent by snail mail, email, chainmail), the only way to reach you is via the Lambeth Fringe 2026 programme.
I am under direct attack.
The glitzy, glamorous age of the NHS front-frontline workforce (the ‘reception team’) is gone. Once highly respected pin-up girls of healthcare, we are now scapegoated and ridiculed for problems caused by incompetent doctors, nurses... and health secretaries.
Having no other options, and with the support of the parish council, I have unionised and established the ‘GP receptionist appreciation society’ (see draft logo). Crowdfunded by my viral cover of Chris DeBurgh’s Lady in Red (receiving over 100 plays, one play per day), we have acquired a slot at the Lambeth Fringe to plead our case.
Having consulted the youth of today (specifically my goddaughter, Bethany, 11, keen swimmer), I will stage a 50-minute dramatisation of my life, as told through drama, song, and sketch comedy (which I understand from Bethany is quite en vogue via the TikTok (6,7 skibidi toilet rizz)).
I do hope you can make it—please don’t sit in the front row; that is strictly reserved for my step-children.
