Have I Returned?
by Alan Ho's Team
For a blind man, darkness has never been something to fear—it is the only world he has ever known. Believing that sight will finally give him the sense of belonging he has always longed for, he embarks on an unwavering pursuit of light. But when his wish is finally granted, he discovers a world that is as unsettling as it is beautiful. As the boundaries between reality and illusion begin to dissolve, he is left questioning whether the world he fought so hard to see was ever truly meant for him.
Blending expressionist theatre, physical performance and dark humour, this original production explores perception, identity and the universal search for belonging. Rather than asking whether light is better than darkness, it challenges audiences to reconsider what it truly means to see. Is happiness found in seeing more, or in finding a place where we feel we belong? Through striking visual imagery and an emotionally charged journey, the play invites audiences to reflect on the worlds we chase—and whether they were ever ours to begin with.
