My Closing Statement
Inspired by the chat show format ‘a night with... ’ exploring themes of corruption and sexism within the workplace, follow Detective Jones as she recounts the case that destroyed her career. A single armchair and her office reconstruction bridge the gap between past as present as Jones invites the audience to hear her side of the story through reenactment and explanation. A young writer who is surrounded by a village who thinks her way of thinking is too forward commits suicide, revealing bruises, inconsistencies, and a note that she clearly did not write – all resulting in three interviews that could make or break the case.
The audience are invited to follow along with the case as they are given a mock-up of the casefile. Through shifting timelines, interviews, and audience involvement, this is a one-woman show that asks: when corruption defines the truth, what would you have done?
“An engaging story with many twists and turns - it’s amazing!” - audience member.
