Francesca’s tourism company is collapsing—until she discovers a way to offer the ultimate experience: time travel. As customers flock to relive history, Francesca finds herself confronting her own past, including her relationship with Angela, which continues to shape her present.
Take Your Time is a bold new sci-fi play that uses time travel as a lens to explore grief, queer love, human connection, and the fragile nature of time. It invites us to ask: what would happen if we had the chance to change things? And, most importantly, should we?
Statement from the writer
Science fiction has shaped my creative identity since childhood, from games invented with my cousins to the films that inspired me as an artist. This play is both an ode to that nerdy upbringing and a reflection on my relationship with my father, whose influence sparked my lifelong love of the genre.
Blending science fiction with an exploration of grief, Take Your Time became a process of healing, guided by characters finding their own ways through loss. The play invites audiences to reflect on their relationship with time — how it is spent, and what it means — ultimately reminding us that all we ever truly have is the present moment.

A 50-seat fringe venue above The Bread & Roses Pub, the theatre programs a wide-spread variety of productions for local as well as far-reaching audiences. Equality, diversity and artistic quality are at the forefront of the theatre's programming, which features in-house productions as well as many visiting companies. The theatre regularly hosts touring shows and has worked with award-winning ensembles with decades of experience but also frequently welcomes and supports emerging theatre-makers taking their first steps. The programme includes new writing, contemporary revivals, reinvented classics and occasionally also devised work, improvisational theatre, comedy events, family shows and physical theatre.
Recently renovated, The Bread and Roses Theatre features brand new tiered seating, with 50 new individual seats, and a professional floor.
