The Elzebub
Ever wondered what life would be like as a female dolphin? Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night with excruciating period pain and wondered if female dolphins have to deal with the same sort of shit? How do they take their built in pain away? Do they have the dolphin equivalent of ibuprofen down there? Well Eloise has! Eloise is a bi lingual, bi sexual chronic over sharer and her hyper fixation on marine life becomes an integral part of her identity. Her coming of age story follows her experiences growing up as an undiagnosed neurodiverse girl who was raised abroad, in an affluent holiday party destination. From girlhood to womanhood, this one woman show is a raw confessional / dramady. It’s somewhere between bottle nose dolphin beach babe and Essex girl club rat chaos but fundamentally this is a love letter to Eloise’s inner child. She is trying to become the adult she really needed in her childhood and adolescence but is failing miserably. Eloise is in the pits of existential dread at the dodgy end of her twenties and questions what her life would’ve been like if she never would’ve moved out of Essex, Who would she be as an adult if she had known about her ADHD as a child and most importantly she wants to know if male dolphins are as creepy as some of the human men she has encountered in the Portuguese Night Clubs? This piece is fast paced, and plays with form. Think part jazz gig, part play BUT NOT A MUSICAL. This show is an artistic expression of Eloise’s neurospicy experience. Sonically this is a cultural blend of the Portuguese and English language with bold use of movement, spoken word and music.
