The Moat
BY MARK A C BROWN, DIRECTED BY DAVID WHITNEY
I wanted to write an absurd play about an absurd world. Too many people in the world sit with disaster on their doorstop and hope that it will pass. Most throw money at it in the hope that it will thicken the bubble that they’ve built to buffer themselves from it all. I wanted to push that ridiculous way of thinking to it’s logical (and probably not that farfetched) conclusion.
How much are we prepared to risk to maintain our status and possessions? Is the personal world we have curated for ourselves more important than the world at large? Are we prepared to have the world outside of our borders burn if we can remain protected inside our moats? What will it take for people to see that this way of life can not go on? So far nothing has made a dent.
