The Girl in the Mask

The Girl in the Mask speaks directly to a generation rethinking what family owes them — and what they owe family in return. At its heart is a daughter who feels she has no choice but to go "no contact" with her mother, not out of cruelty, but because her mother cannot accept that she is different.

That refusal to be accepted as you are will be painfully familiar to many young people today: to autistic and neurodivergent people, and to transgender and queer people who have faced the same demand to shrink, hide, or apologise for who they are. The play's mask becomes a shared symbol — the face you wear to stay loved, and the cost of finally taking it off.

Funny, tender and unflinching, it holds space for everyone who has ever been told they were too much, or not enough.
